Attention All Medicaid, Child Health Plus, & Essential Plan Enrollees
You must take action to Renew Your Health Insurance Coverage!
Last year, New York State resumed eligibility reviews for all Medicaid, Child Health Plus, and Essential Plan enrollees. If you or a family member have coverage through one of these plans and you have not already completed the renewal, you will need to take action soon to renew your health insurance or the insurance of your family member. If you do not complete the renewal package, you could lose coverage.
What can you do now?
Open any mail you receive from NYS Department of Health or your local Medicaid office immediately. You must complete and return the renewal package as soon as possible - otherwise your case may be closed and you will lose your health insurance coverage.
Make sure NY State of Health or your local Medicaid office has your current mailing address, phone number and email address so they can contact you about your health insurance.
If you have insurance through NY State of Health, call 1-855-355-5777 (TTY: 1-800-662-1220), log into your account at nystateofhealth.ny.gov, or contact an enrollment assistor (go to nystateofhealth.ny.gov/ to find an assistor).
If you have Medicaid through your county’s Medicaid office or through New York City’s Human Resources Administration (HRA), contact your local office to update your address and contact information.
If you think that you or a family member may no longer be eligible for your current coverage (Medicaid/Child Health Plus/Essential Plan), contact an enrollment assistor as soon as possible to find out what your coverage options are. Common changes during the pandemic (when eligibility reviews were on hold) that can affect eligibility are:
An increase in income
A child on Child Health Plus who is now 19 years of age and older
